About W3C-IL

The Israeli W3C Office is a national contact point for the W3C activities in the Israel. The office is hosted by ISOC-IL. The office is headed is Mr. Ori Idan.

The office was opened in 1999 and hosted until 2007 by the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the hebrew university of Jerusalm, it was headed by professor Michel Bercovier.
In 2008 it was reopened hosted by ISOC-IL
This office is one of the many national offices of the W3C, which also operate, among others, in Germany, Italy, ,Hong-Kong, Sweden, Australia or the United Kingdom. The national W3C offices make it sure that the W3C and its specifications become known in these countries, too. Furthermore, the office forwards any local feedback to the W3C. The geographic spread of offices ensures that the WWW becomes really accessible for the whole world.

In particular, the Israeli W3C office:

  • advances the awarness to W3C standards
  • supports local events (conferences, workshops, W3C working group meetings)
  • is a forum for the Israeli members of the W3C
  • feeds back local input to the W3C
  • spreads the results of the W3C through press releases and talks all over the country
